Unless you’ve got a knack for it like the late Steve Jobs, public speaking in NYC conference rooms is a task that can come with a lot of anxiety. Speaking in front of any group of people can be nerve-wracking, especially if you’re not someone who enjoys standing out in a crowd. Add the stakes of job consequences if you mess up, and it makes sense why some people try to avoid it. But, you can’t escape it entirely! So to help, we’ve come up with a couple of tips to help you beat your nervousness and rock your meeting!
As the song goes, “you’re never fully dressed without a smile!” Smiling is a simple act people can do to help raise their happiness levels! Smiling produces the same kind of serotonin boost as exercise, and studies have found positive correlations between people who smile often and old age, suggesting that smiling can help you live longer! Additionally, flashing those pearly whites can help you appear more confident, successful, and attractive to others. If you walk into your NYC conference rooms with an authentic smile, it’s effects will be contagious and lift the spirits of those around you!Take it Slow
The biggest fear most people have with public speaking is that they’ll forget what they’re going to say. So, to “fix” this, they end up saying everything they need to–at a million words per minute! This doesn’t help anyone; the audience won’t be able to understand you, and all of your hard work will be for nothing. Remember, you’re presenting in NYC conference rooms, not at an auction. Focus on speaking clearly, not quickly: enunciate your words and take pauses between sentences. It also gives you time to collect yourself and thoughts, which could come in handy if you ever actually do forget what to say!
